Chelsea have reportedly set their eyes on Lucas Digne as an alternative to Ben Chilwell.

The Blues lost their star left-back to a serious knee injury that will likely keep him out for the rest of the season.

The 25-year-old is set to undergo surgery on his ACL damaged during last month’s Champions League win over Juventus.

Manager Thomas Tuchel is now likely to plunge into the January transfer market to bring cover for his remaining option at left, Marcos Alonso.

Reports suggest a possible target is Everton defender Digne, who has fallen out of favor at Goodison Park.

The 28-year-old moved from Barcelona to Merseyside in August 2018 and quickly became an established regular.

But the France international has reportedly fallen out with Rafa Benitez over his boss’s often defensive tactics.

Digne is rumored to have a target in mega-rich Newcastle and will be available for around £25m.

Tuchel is said to have identified fall-back plans if his side fails to bring in Toffee Man.

Barca’s young Sergio Dest has been roped in as a substitute, although there is no concrete outlook for the 21-year-old.

Ajax veteran Nicolas Tagliafico is the one who has been on Stamford Bridge’s radar for months.

And there is also the possibility of recalling Emerson Palmieri or Ian Matson from their respective loan deals.
