JOAO CANCELO has revealed that he was ‘attacked by four cowards’ who left him with a horrific wound on his face while protecting his family.
The 27-year-old Manchester City star shared his story with a photo of his severed head and bruised eye with his two million Instagram followers.
Canslow suggested that he attempted to fight back – claiming he ‘showed resistance’ – as he defended parter Daniela Machado and daughter Alicia, two.
The Portuguese ace, who is enjoying yet another stellar season at the Etihad in 2021-22, shared a gruesome picture on his Instagram story – claiming that the animals stole all his jewellery.
Cancillo captioned the shocking photo: “Unfortunately today I was attacked by four cowards who hurt me and tried to hurt my family.
“That’s what happens when you show resistance.
“They managed to take all my jewelery and left me with my face in this state.
“I don’t know how people are so mean.”
Canelo continued: “The most important thing to me is my family and luckily they are all fine.
“And after so many obstacles in my life, this is just one more I will overcome.
“As firm and strong as ever.”
Canelo joined Man City from Juventus in 2019 and has played 101 times for the current Premier League champions in all competitions.
The 31-cap Portugal star has been in sensational form this season, scoring three times in 25 matches, including a shout-out against Newcastle earlier this month.
Cancillo helped City reclaim their love crown last stint and was also instrumental in helping Pep Guardiola’s side reach the Champions League final.
