And the 28-year-old blues star shared footage of the lively reception she received from her supporters on social media.

The defender had to be ejected from an undisclosed location in Sierra Leone’s capital, Freetown, as enthusiastic fans flocked around him and his crew.

And an enthusiastic supporter appeared to jump on the back of the Stamford Bridge ace while other spectators played music in the background.

In a post of the laughing emoji shared with his one million followers on Twitter, Rudiger wrote: “I am speechless – these people are crazy. Thank you for this wonderful welcome to Sierra Leone. God bless you all.”

His Blues teammate Trevor Chaloba sent a witty reply jokingly that the fan who had jumped on him probably ‘wanted to piggyback’.

Ahead of his arrival, Rudiger shared a post on his Instagram page about his intention to ‘recharge his battery’, which he described as ‘an important part of the season’.

The Germany international, who has been at the center of headlines over his Blues future, is helping his club fight for a sixth Premier League title.

Rudiger, whose contract is set to expire this summer, is reportedly in talks with Chelsea chiefs over a new deal.

The defender, who sealed a £29million Chelsea move from Roma in 2017, has also been able to hold pre-contract talks with the overseas club.

And it is claimed that Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are among European sides interested in the services of the Champions League winner.

Reports claim that Rudiger turned down a rumored blues offer of £140,000 per week.

It is believed the defender, who has won four major trophies with the club, is keen on an offer of close to £200,000 a week.

Despite interest abroad, Rudiger is said to be eager to stay in London with Thomas Tuchel.

The player has spoken of being ‘committed’ to the club’s hopes and ambitions for success on the pitch.

The Blues centre-back told Sky Sports: “As always, I am fully committed to this cause.

“The conversation is between my side and the club, and that’s everything you need to know.”
