Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has revealed that he still occasionally struggles with a British accent.

The Ivory Coast international joked that Jesse Lingard is particularly difficult to understand.

In an interview with Poet and Vuj on his YouTube channel, the 27-year-old admitted that adapting to the language was the hardest thing to do when he moved to the UK.

Bailey said: “Language, they are different, Liverpool, United they are all different.

“It’s better when I go to London.”

When David Wuznik jokingly asked if he needed subtitles, the defender replied: “When Jesse starts talking sometimes I’m like hey, come on, slow down! And I don’t understand !

“this is madness!”

In the interview he also revealed that Jamie Vardy is one of the toughest strikers to play against: “I like Vardy because he’s a tough striker, it’s very difficult.

“When you go up against Vardy you need to be strong, if you’re not strong you go down, so that’s good.”

Bailly is currently in his sixth season at Manchester United and has made over 100 appearances for the club.

After being recalled to the squad on international duty for Ivory Coast in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations, his next match against Burnley is expected to start for the Red Devils.
