John Eugene Joseph Dromi (jack drome) was a British Labor Party politician and trade unionist who served as Deputy Secretary General of Unite from 2003 to 2010 and Member of Parliament (MP) for Birmingham Ardington from 2010 until his death in January 2022.
Before being elected to parliament, he was deputy general secretary of the Transport and General Workers’ Union and treasurer of the Labor Party.

Labor member Jack Dromi passed away unexpectedly at their flat this morning, according to his family. Erdington, a former shadow minister and MP for Birmingham, is survived by his wife, Harriet Herman, also a Labor MP, and three children.
A statement issued by the family said: “Jack Dromey MP passed away suddenly this morning at the age of 73 at his flat in Ardington.” He had been a devoted Member of Parliament for Birmingham Ardington since 2010. “He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.”

Along with renowned housing and direct-action advocates Jim Radford and Ron Bailey, he was instrumental in organizing the occupation of Center Point in 1973. He backed Owen Smith in his unsuccessful bid to succeed Jeremy Corbyn as Labor leader in 2016. In the 2019 general election, Dromi retained his seat, but his majority was reduced to ten percentage points. Dromi joined the Shadow Cabinet Office team headed by Rachel Reeves as Shadow Paymaster General in January 2021.
