Newcastle agree Guimaraes fee
Newcastle are closing midfielder Bruno Guimaraes after Lyon accepted a bid of around £30 million, reports SunSport’s Oscar Paul.
This Brazilian international player will be given medical treatment in his home country today.
Arsenal and Juventus are also keen, but they have yet to submit an offer, leaving Toon in pole position to secure his signature.
Guimaraes is a deep-lying playwright and would become Newcastle’s second most expensive signer after £40million countryman Joelinton.
Guimaraes, 24, joined Lyon from Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense in January 2020 and has picked up three caps with samba stars.
One of Lyon’s most consistent performers over the past two seasons, he was part of the gold medal-winning Brazil team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Magpies owner Eddie Howe has been desperate to add a midfielder throughout January and is now hoping to make his third signing this month, following the arrival of Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood.
