Watch ex-Man City star Ferran Torres score first Barcelona goal with superb curling effort in Copa del Rey thriller

Barcelona forward Ferran Torres opened his account for the club in strong fashion in a thrilling five-goal match against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday night.

But the 21-year-old’s graceful curling effort didn’t matter as Blaugrana crashed after losing 3-2 in his round of 16 clash from the Copa del Rey.

Torres, who last month tied up with Manchester City’s Catalan club in a £55million deal, was making his second appearance at Barca.

His debut came with a 3-2 loss against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final last week.

Torres lasted just 46 minutes in that match, but he certainly made an impression against Bilbao at the San Memes Barria Stadium.

The hosts opened the scoring after just two minutes through Iker Munian, but Torres equalized with a brilliant strike in the 20th minute.

Torres was found inside the edge of the box by Sergio Busquets, with the Spain international taking a touch before sprinting past Oscar de Marcos.

And with his third touch he found the top right corner with a pinpoint finish just beyond the outstretched arms of Julen Agrirezbala.

Bilbao then thought they had snatched the victory over the death after Inigo Martínez took the lead in the 86th minute.

But in stoppage time, Pedri smashed home from inside the box for the second time to bring the visitors back on level terms.

Danny Alves kept the play alive after his overhead kick found the young midfielder, who rifled the ball past the net on a half-volley.

The play didn’t stop there as Bilbao would take the lead for the third time after Munian scored from the penalty spot in extra time in the first half.

This time there was no way for Barca, who are now three games without a win in all competitions.
