Nottingham Forest have struck a deal with Middlesbrough to keep Jade Spence within their ranks until the end of the season.
Spence joined Borough to Forest on loan in September and established himself as a starter after a series of impressive performances that won over the crowd at the City Ground.
However, the wing-back’s parent club manager Chris Wilder spoke out this week about recalling him during the January transfer window due to a raft of coronavirus cases at Riverside Stadium.
However, sources have told SunSport that Miltiadis, the son of Nottingham boss Evangelos Marinakis, who was behind his signing last year, has agreed with Middlesbrough to retain the talented Londoner until the summer.
Spence’s contract had a recall clause but the owner has basically negotiated a new loan deal by June.
It’s a positive development for the Forest loyalist as well as the versatile defender who “loves it” at City Ground.
He is influenced by manager Steve Cooper as well as the owner’s ambitions amid the club’s bid to return to the Premier League for the first time since 1999.
Miltiadis is also looking to complete some more signings during the January transfer window.

SunSport understands that Bournemouth ace Steve Cook is close to a deal and is highly rated because of his Premier League experience and previous success in promotional bids.
Nottingham are also making great progress in their bid to land Aston Villa’s Keenan Davies on loan.
Marinakis will have his hands full this month as he also battles Greek champion Olympiakos.
The Piraeus giants are flying high in the SuperLeague as they are undefeated but are up for an uphill task in the Europa League as they face Atalanta.
The Greek businessman showed some serious intent last month by signing with former Napoli star Costas Manolas.
And SunSport has heard that the 54-year-old supremo has handed over much of the Nottingham-related transfer work to Miltiadis.
