But the 31-year-old’s move to the Ligue 1 club has turned into a nightmare.

Wijnaldum also admitted earlier this season that he is not ‘completely happy’ at PSG.

And the Dutchman is open to an early exit from the Parc des Princes after Mauricio Pochettino’s side has been limited to only nine starts.

Tutto Mercato claims it is his ‘destiny’ to return to England once the transfer window reopens.

And according to relegation struggler Newcastle L’Equipe, Wijnaldum want back a second term at St James’s Park.

He had originally moved from PSV to Newcastle in 2015.

He spent a season at Tyneside before being swooped down to sign him by Liverpool a year later.

Wijnaldum achieved great success at Anfield and played 179 matches for them in the top-flight.

During that period he also helped Jurgen Klopp’s side lift the Champions League in 2019.

And the following year he was instrumental in ending his long wait to win the Premier League at Liverpool.
