NAPOLI are looking to sign Axel Tuanzebe – despite the fact that the Manchester United defender is currently on loan at Aston Villa.
The Red Devils are spending the season at Villa Park after academy graduate Rafael Varane forced him up the pecking order after his arrival from Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old Tuanzebe will remain in Steven Gerrard’s team until the end of the season.
But after playing just nine times in the Premier League in 2021-22, Napoli are hoping to pinch the centre-back for themselves.
transfer guru fabrizio romano have revealed that the Serie A giants are in the market for a new centre-back.
And Napoli are hoping Villa will allow him to handle his loan deal until the end of the current campaign.
But the Italian side is also willing to add an option to buy into the paperwork, Tuanzebe’s days at Old Trafford are numbered.
Romano tweeted: “Napoli looking for a new centre.

“Axel Tuanzebe is considered a candidate only if Man Utd will consider a loan with a buyout option – and if Aston Villa will let him.”
Romano confirms Napoli will turn to Fenerbahçe centre-back Kim Min-jae as backup – as first revealed gianluca dimarzio – Should they fail in the pursuit of Tuanzebe.
The defender only signed a new long-term deal at Old Trafford this summer.
United were hopeful that his stint at Aston Villa would allow Tuanzebe to build on his apparent potential, as his 2020-21 campaign was derailed by injury.
Tuanzebe has played 37 times for Man Utd since making his debut in 2017.
