But after the final whistle, Cavani’s actions left the supporters bewildered.
Video footage shows the Uruguay legend applauding, waving and kissing home fans at the Theater of Dreams.
Cavani has been out of touch next summer and has been tipped to leave after struggling to maintain a regular spot in the starting XI.
Spanish giants Barcelona are reportedly plotting to swoop in on Sergio Aguero’s retirement in January.
Meanwhile, fallen Italian giants Juventus and Brazil’s samba side Corinthians have also been linked.
And some United fans believe it was Cavani’s gesture after the Burnley game goodbye message.

“I hope he stays but he felt like goodbye.”
Another tweeted: “Most likely he is leaving in January.”

Another said: “I hope it’s not true, it will get worse if he leaves in January.”
Cavani joined United in 2021 on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain and scored 17 goals last season.
He has scored two goals in 10 matches this time around but has struggled for consistency with injuries.
