Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly out of a scramble to sign Dennis Zakaria.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have spoken to the Borussia Monchengladbach star’s agents, but a bid is unlikely.
And the timing is clearly wrong for the Reds, who don’t want to make a move this January’s transfer window.
Bayern Munich and Arsenal have also been linked with the Bundesliga star.
And Spanish giants Barcelona are also believed to be monitoring the situation.
The 25-year-old midfielder has entered the final six months of his contract and is unwilling to consider staying at Mönchengladbach once it expires.
Reports from last week suggested United had already offered Zakaria a contract and would pay the fee this month rather than wait until the summer.
But German champions Bayern are favorites to secure his signing as a replacement for soon-to-be-out-of-contract Corentin Tolisso.

The midfielder’s current contract status means he is likely to be available for around £7million.
Zakaria has been in Borussia Mönchengladbach since 2017 and has made over 100 performances in total.
This season he appeared 17 times, scoring twice and earning one assist.
