The rock-bottom side of the Premier League has once again been hit by Covid-19 cases, injuries and illness.
Norwich had 10 first-team players missing in their 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Tuesday.
But with so few players available, they were able to cancel their trip to West Ham on 18 December.
And now, with the death of Dean Smith and the training of some players, Norwich have accepted his request.
A statement confirmed: “Following a request from Norwich City, the Premier League Board met today and regretfully agreed to postpone the club’s fixture at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium, on Saturday 1 January Due to be played at 15:00 GMT.
“The Board accepted Norwich’s application as the club does not have the required number of players (13 outfield players and one goalkeeper) for the match due to COVID-19 cases and injuries.

“The decision by the board could have been made before the fixture to give clarity to the affected clubs and their fans. We apologize for the inconvenience and disruption caused to the celebration plans of supporters.
“The league is aware that recent decisions to postpone matches will disappoint supporters, and understands their frustrations at a particular time of year when fans are eager to attend and watch football games.
“The aim of the league is to provide as much clarity as possible, but unfortunately sometimes adjournments have to be made at short notice, as safety is our priority.
“Where possible, if play is at risk on match day, the league will endeavor to keep supporters updated.”
The postponement is the latest to tarnish the festive football calendar in England.
Newcastle’s love tussle at Everton, scheduled for tonight, is on call as the Magpies were left with only eleven senior players for the game.
