Brazilian outfit Fortaleza are reportedly ready to offer Jack Wilshere a contract.

O Povo claims the club is targeting the former Arsenal midfielder ahead of his Copa Libertadores debut.

The club’s chief is clearly looking to boost Fortaleza’s profile with some high-reputation foreign signings.

And Wilshere could be the first through the door on a free transfer next month.

The 29-year-old English playmaker has been without a club since leaving Bournemouth last summer.

Wilshire postponed Wayne Rooney’s move to Derby County in the last transfer window.

And he has since been training with old side Arsenal, where he played 197 times over the course of ten seasons.

But Wilshere, who has also expressed interest in joining David Beckham at Inter Miami, may now revive his career in Brazil.

Fortaleza will compete in his first Copa Libertadores after finishing fourth in last season’s Campeonato.

They already boast a number of big names including former Brazil international Lucas Lima and former Manchester United U21 ace Angelo Henriquez.

But Fortaleza now wants some big-name foreign stars to boost their reputation and opportunities on par with South America’s Champions League.

And Wilshere seems to tick all the boxes needed for a classy midfield playmaker.

Indeed, it appears that Wilshere himself is eager to take the step, with his agent reportedly also offering Starr’s services to Fortaleza.

Mikel Arteta then hinted at a possible return to the Emirates earlier this month, saying: “It’s great to have him around first.

“He’s the type of character that adds a special feeling to the club. He comes every day with a smile on his face, trying to do his best.

“His talent is undeniable. When you see him in training, I think you have told some players that he is the best at training. So he has that.

“Now he is doing his coaching badges and it is completely up to him what the next step in his career will be and we are here to support him.”
