Virgil van Dijk is not the best defender in the Premier League, according to former Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea star William Gallus.
When asked who is the best defender in the Premier League, the 44-year-old has caused quite a stir with his choice of players.

While many would argue that it is Van Dijk, the French took a different approach and argued that Thiago Silva and Ruben Dias are the best.
Speaking to Genting Casino, Gallus said: “I will talk about two players. I will speak about Thiago Silva because he always gets the edge.
“I think what he does for Chelsea is fantastic.
“As you know, playing in the Premier League is not easy, it is very physical.
“And Thiago Silva is 36 years old, he is the boss of that defence. He is mature, he has experience.
That’s why players like Rudiger and Chaloba feel safe when they play next to Thiago Silva.

“Thiago Silva, with his experience, takes all that pressure on his shoulder.
“Thiago Silva is one of the best defenders in the Premier League.”
The Brazilian centre-back has been an indispensable asset for Thomas Tuchel since joining Chelsea in 2020.
He has played 55 matches for the Blues, scoring four times and assisted twice.
But Silva isn’t the only man to have caught the Gallas’ attention, with Manchester City’s Dias also impressed.
He added: “Plus, you’ve got Ruben Dias in Man City.
“He’s very strong, and a very considerate defender. He doesn’t do too many fouls.
“In his position, he’s always good, that’s how he communicates with his team.
“He doesn’t talk much, but he doesn’t have to, but you know, he looks strong.”
The 24-year-old joined Citi last year and has certainly made a mark since his arrival.
Not only was he part of the 2020/21 Premier League winning team, but he was also named the 2020/21 Premier League Player of the Season and Football Writers’ Player of the Year.
