A good friend of Cristiano Ronaldo After spending time together at Real Madrid – and on the international scene – Coentrao’s career has taken a very different direction.

While the 36-year-old Ronaldo continues to strive for greatness, now back at Manchester United, the former left-back is pursuing his dream of working out at sea.

Coentrao bought his first boat during his playing days – saving 15 fishermen from a sinking ship along with his ship.

And now the former Real, Benfica and Sporting Lisbon ace is working full time at sea.

Coentrao told the Empower Brands channel: “Life at sea is not something to be ashamed of, as many people think.

“Not only that, the sea is beautiful and we need it.

“It’s that there are people who work here and the profession should be respected like any other.”

Talking about his ‘dream’ job, Coentrao continued: “People who love the ocean and who want to experience the ocean, need to follow their dream.

“It’s a job for the new generation too. My father had a boat, he used to fish and always went with them as a kid.

“My life was the sea … the sea and fishing.

“Of course, I knew football would end one day and that I should take a new direction in my life.

“And my happiness is this boat and this is the life I want to live.”
