Chelsea’s forgotten man Lewis Baker could play his second game for the club… nearly eight years after his debut.
Premier League teams voted on Monday to continue the season, meaning matches will go ahead as planned.
If sides are able to name 13 outfield players and one goalkeeper, their game should go ahead, even if it means calling players from under-23s.
And with Chelsea’s squad being decimated by injuries and Covid cases – at least seven players have tested positive – it could be Baker getting back into the fold.
The midfielder has been on Chelsea’s books since 2005 and made his only senior appearance in the FA Cup on 5 January 2014.
He came on as an 87th-minute substitute for Oscar in a 2–0 win in the derby, playing alongside John Obi Mikel, Ashley Cole and Mark Schwarzer at Pride Park.
Since then, Becker has been a mainstay in the famed loan force out of Stamford Bridge with nine loan spells for the EFL, Holland, Germany and Turkey, making 36 appearances for Trabzonspor last season.
However, the 26-year-old is now back at Chelsea in this stint, having scored 11 times for U23 and thrice.

And Baker is one of 12 members of the U23s side who have been called upon by Blues boss Thomas Tuchel to train with the first team if needed to make up the numbers.
It is understood that Teddy Sharman-Lowe, 18, Josh Brooking, 19, Xavier Mbuyamba, 19, Alfie Gilchrist, 18, Dion Rankin, 19 and Xavier Simmons, 18, were all involved in the session on Monday.
As were, reportedly, Lewis Hall, 17, Joe High, 18, Harvey Vale, 18, Brian Fiebema, 18, and Jay Wareham, 18.
There was no sign of fellow forgotten man Charlie Musonda, however, who has recovered from knee surgery but looks certain to leave the club over the summer, while Kennedy, Baba Rahman, Matt Miazga and Danny Drinkwater are still Are on the books but out on debt.
Chelsea will face Brentford in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday.
And he could see Baker – who has 17 England U21 caps – only to return to the team after N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic were brought in to take the evening off.
As things stand, the European champions are due to head to Aston Villa on Boxing Day – but with both sides facing the outbreak of the Covid, it could be postponed.
