Chelsea 'could sell THREE midfielders to raise funds for emergency January transfers' after injury crisis

According to reports, Chelsea may be prepared to sell three midfielders to raise funds in the January transfer window.

The Blues are trailing in the race for the Premier League title and are currently 11 points behind table-toppers Manchester City.

Thomas Tuchel’s side has been hampered by injuries and Covid cases but could still be the one to land many faces in the upcoming window.

According to Football.London, Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Hakim Ziyech could all drop out of the club.

Barkley have failed to secure much playing time so far this season due to unrelenting competition for midfield places at Stamford Bridge.

The presence of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and even Saul Niguez have seen the English start in the Premier League just once.

And while he still has 18 months left on his current deal, he may eventually be ready to move away from Chelsea permanently.

Another former England international could also be pulled out of West London in the shape of a Loftus-Cheek.

After scoring 10 goals in 40 games in the 2018–19 campaign for the Blues, he only managed to make 10 appearances over the next two seasons.

The 25-year-old has been more prolific than Barkley in the first half of the new campaign, with seven loves from his name.

But Loftus-Cheek is still behind the likes of Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic in the pecking order and could be seen as an expendable deal for Chelsea chiefs.

And then there’s Ziyech – an attacking player who has struggled to make a name for himself at Stamford Bridge.

He came from Ajax in 2020 after a stellar four-year spell with Ajax.

But just nine goals in 57 appearances from the Premier League has left many questioning whether he is the right man for Tuchel’s side.

However, if Chelsea sell the Moroccan star they would not want to take a huge hit on the £38m they paid for.
