Brentford step up chase for Hull wonderkid Keane Lewis-Potter but face transfer fight with Tottenham

Brentford is chasing Hull City wonderkid Keane Lewis-Potter.

Bees have had a long-term interest in the twenty-year-old winger – and over the summer a £8 million bid was rejected.

But SunSport understands that interest remains, and club representatives were present to watch Lewis-Potter during Hull’s 2-0 win over Blackburn on Wednesday night.

Lewis-Potter showed his flexibility by playing in the front two in a 3-4-1-2 formation – a similar system to that used by boss Thomas Frank at Brentford.

Hull is preparing himself for offers from several Premier League clubs this month and at the end of the season, Tottenham is monitoring the player.

Southampton, Leicester and West Ham are also watching.

Lewis-Potter currently has five goals and four assists in the championship this season.

He also scored 13 goals and six assists last season to take Hull out of League One. His contract expired in 2023.

Earlier this week it emerged that Bees is in talks with Christian Ericsson about a return to the Premier League.

Ericsson suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2020 group stage opener against Finland.

The quick thinking of his captain Simon Keizer and the medical staff on the field saved Ericsson’s life, and he was taken to the nearest hospital and equipped with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator.

The device monitors his heart’s rhythm and can also send shocks to the heart if needed.

But fitted equipment meant Ericsson was not cleared to compete in Serie A and was later released by Inter.

However, Prem newcomer Brentford has made an approach to the free agent, with Ericsson being allowed to play in England with the ICD.

Fellow Dane Frank is keen to use Ericsson’s creative spark to help keep the bees in top flight for another season.

A six-month deal is on the table and if things go well, there is an option to extend for another year.
