Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk could be announced NEXT WEEK as Brit’s camp hope to agree Anthony Joshua step-aside deal

Frank Warren expects to announce the Tyson Fury-Alexander Usyk World Heavyweight Title Unification Showdown next week.

WBC champion Fury has been mandated to fight fellow Brit Dillian White, but the challenger is in legal dispute with the sanctioning body over his split of the purse.

While Ukrainian Usyk is due to meet Anthony Joshua in a rematch after taking Britain’s WBA, IBF and WBO belts in a surprise victory last September.

But talks are still underway over multimillion-pound offers for AJ and White to allow Fury, 33, and Usyk, 35, to clash in a Middle East unification superfight.

Fury’s co-promoter Warren declared: “It’s a saga but if we can keep things between ourselves, we can somehow achieve something.

“We are still working on things but I am confident that over the weekend we will make some progress and then make some announcements.

“Everyone in boxing wants to see the undeniable fight between Tyson and Usyk, I want to see it as a fan. So that’s the fight we’re trying to create.”

Warren’s US partner Bob Arum has described the attempt to guarantee both Joshua and White both paid and guaranteed shots on world titles as “total chaos”.

But the top-ranked veteran, 90, is confident that Wednesday’s auction of the big fight between Fury and White’s camps will settle the painful soap opera.

Arum said: “It’s a uniquely terrifying kind of situation, but hopefully it will be sorted out and maybe sorted out with a purge bid.”

AJ filmed Friday at his beloved Finchley amateur gym and needs to announce his new head trainer soon to convince fans that he can climb back to the top of the heavyweight pile.

The Watford Ace have teamed up with Team GB mentor Rob McCracken and split their time between their native North London gym and assistant trainer Angel Fernandez’s facility at Loughborough University.

Promoter Eddie Hearn believes revamped team AJ has helped the 32-year-old emerge from the depression that September Usyk’s defeat left him.

The matchroom boss said: “I’m sure there will be additional coaches or trainers who will come into the fold and AJ is in a really good place now.

“He knows he was beaten by the better man in the night and he was hurt for a long time but now he is in a really good place.

“He’s enjoying life and training again and bringing his camp together, he’s good.”
