Tyson Fury could fight Robert Helenius or Manuel Charr instead of Dillian Whyte as talks over 80/20 purse stall

Tyson Fury may face Robert Hellenius or Manuel Charr if he fails to agree a deal with Dillian White.

Fury was ordered by the WBC to confront his old feuding partner last December, but an agreement has yet to be reached over the couple’s respective split of the proposed purse.

Brixton banger White has refused to accept an 80–20 split in Fury’s favour, which co-promoter Bob Arum believes could pave the way for Hellenius or Charr to face The Gypsy King.

He told talkSPORT: “If Dillian White isn’t going to fight for whatever reason, obviously we’re not going to keep Tyson Fury – not going to pay him the price of waiting.

“Rage wants to fight and wants to fight sooner rather than later.

“If White isn’t available we can look around him, get a good, decent opponent to fight for him…

“You have people like Robert Helenius and Manuel Charr.

“You just look at the rankings and pick some people from the rankings who can make good rivals.”

Purse bids for the bout were to be heard last week, but were delayed to give both sides more time to hash a deal.

But Arum expects an agreement is being worked out to ensure that purse bids are not required.

He added: “I think unless there’s a deal with Dillian White, it’s [the purse bid] Will go ahead sometime in the coming week.

“Maybe not on Tuesday, maybe on Friday, but there it is.

“The WBC has decided that White will get 20 percent of the purse bid and if the purse bid goes ahead, we’ll find out what comes out with 20 percent…

“I’m always optimistic that a deal is done before a purse bid. I don’t think a purse bid does anyone any good.

“I think the parties should sit down, there’s a lot of money involved, and just make a normal deal…

“Obviously trying to settle the matter so it goes ahead without purse bids.”

Fury, 33, plans to defend his second WBC heavyweight title on March 26, with or without White.

Co-promoter Frank Warren told IFL TV: “Tyson wants the fight to happen by the end of March. As a team, we are looking at other situations as well.

“Whatever happens, he will fight on March 26, that is the purpose.

“I wouldn’t say where it is.

“We have a date here but it could be somewhere else. The truth of the matter is, he wants to fight then.”
