But Fury, the younger brother of heavyweight champion Tyson, is already on his way to recovery and plans to fight back as soon as possible.
He said on Instagram: “So I’ve got another scan to go, another MRI to do with the rib to see where it is and to see how well it’s healed and how much we have left .
“And then after that I can jump right back into the ring because I’m already losing weight, desperate to go.”
In a separate post, he added Fury: “So as soon as I can clear everything for the rib and sparring again and all the other things I’ll be straight back in the ring.
“Because I’ve got some seriously itchy knuckles.”
Fury, 22, was also suffering from a bacterial infection in the chest when he announced that he was out of his fight in less than two weeks.

Tyrone Woodley, 39, was beaten on points four months earlier by Paul, 24, but was brutally knocked out in round six of the Florida rematch.
Fury’s return means Paul still has to fight an opponent with prior professional boxing experience.
Other KOs on his 5-0 record came against online rival ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, 37, and UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 37.
Fury hopes to reschedule the fight but Paul recently claimed he has no intention of doing so.
Paul told Volume Sports: “He wants payday.
“But I said earlier, I don’t want to fight him, he doesn’t deserve it. I’ll fight Tyson Fury.
“I’ll fight Tommy before he fights his brother or his father.”
