Jake Paul has been termed a ‘joke’ by boxing pundit Stephen A Smith after ousting pound-for-pound star Canelo Alvarez.

The YouTuber recently went 5-0 in his professional boxing career after defeating Tyron Woodley in their rematch in Florida.

The win adds to his previous split decision victory over Woodley, as well as his victories over fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib, basketball player Nate Robinson, and MMA wrestler Ben Askren.

But Smith believes Paul is deceiving the public and now he really needs to move in with a real boxer.

in a clip taken from ESPN’s Show First Take, she said: “Jake Paul can’t avoid lying anymore.

“He has been training with boxers and professional boxing coaches for over four years, I understand.

“You knocked out a basketball player, you knocked out a guy in Ben Askren who was a UFC fighter. He was a wrestler.

“Tyron Woodley had the power to put you out there; Sure, and he’s driven people out before. But he is a wrestler.

“You’re not fighting boxers. And somewhere along the way, people must stop walking around, laughing and acting like it’s okay for you to hit cats that don’t box, while you yourself Boxers are saying.”

Paul ambitiously named Mexican superstar Canelo as someone on his hit-list of opponents to beat Woodley.

Alvarez is a four-weight world champion and has not lost since being beaten by Floyd Mayweather in 2013.

And Smith attacked Paul for mentioning Canelo’s name as a potential match-up in the future.

“It’s a joke,” he said. “It’s a disgrace. Here’s the deal – Canelo is the best in the world.”

“He’ll take out Jake Paul in round one. He’ll take him out.

“But more importantly, Jake Paul hasn’t earned the right to be with someone as serious, and deadly, and accomplished as Canelo.”

Canelo recently became the undisputed super-middleweight champion by defeating Caleb Plant to claim the last of four belts in the 168lb division.

He is now linked with a surprise move up to cruiserweight to take on WBC champion Ilunga Makabu.
