Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez is tipped to become a heavyweight world champion if he decides to pile on the pounds in the future.
The 31-year-old has won world titles in four weight categories from light-middleweight to light-heavyweight.
And the undisputed super-middleweight champion could be poised to jump two divisions to take on WBC cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu.
The governing body gave the green light for the dust-up to take place in 2022, with Makabu’s winner and challenger Thabiso Machunu to face Canelo next.
Canelo has admitted that it was his trainer Eddie Reynoso who came up with a plan for him to put on 32lbs and jump up to cruiserweight without consulting him.
Meanwhile promoter Eddie Hearn has said Canelo could move up to heavyweight as he announced the Guadalajara native aims to make history.
And Canelo’s stablemate Frank Sanchez, who outclassed heavyweight Christian Hammer this weekend, shares similar views with Hearn.
He believes he can become world champion in the glamor division to compete with top boxers, although he failed to mention any specific rivals for his training partner.

Speaking to DAZN, the unbeaten Cuban said: “Look, I fought with Canelo.
“I can tell you with full confidence that Canelo has heavyweight power.
“He can handle cruiserweight, and in my opinion, he can be a heavyweight champion if he puts his mind to it.
“Canelo is an absolute stud. He is very serious and very respectful of both me and his work ethic.
“The biggest lesson I learned from him is that it doesn’t matter whether you’re training or you’re in the ring, that you have to be serious about your craft, that you have to follow it with passion. Is.
“That’s the main thing I took away from being around Canelo, someone I greatly appreciate.”
Unified Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usik, who holds the WBA, WBO and IBF belts, has opened the door to a match-up against Alvarez.
However, boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. has warned the cunning Ukrainian southpaw against fighting Canelo.
